A Typical Session
Sessions are 60 minutes and can be held in-person in Portland or online via Zoom. You remain aware and in control the whole time.

I'm a hypnotherapist, author, and radio host based in Portland, Oregon. For years I've been obsessed with one question: how do we change our inner experience so we can live more fully in the outer world?
My work blends modern hypnotherapy, somatic grounding, and a lifelong fascination with attention, creativity, and the science of altered states. I work especially well with thoughtful, creative, or sensitive people who feel like their nervous system is stuck on "high alert" — and who are ready to feel more relaxed, confident, and at home in their own body.
I'm also the author of DIY Magic and host of the radio show Note to Self — both explorations of the same core question: how do we become more present in our own lives?

Yes. You don't lose control or black out. Hypnosis is more like a focused, relaxed state — similar to being absorbed in a book or film. You can talk, move, and remember what happened. You're a willing participant the entire time.
Most people can, especially when they actually want to be there and feel safe. My job is to help you relax into it at your own pace. Skepticism is fine — curiosity is enough to start.
Not at all. There are no tricks, no embarrassing suggestions, no clucking like a chicken. This is one-on-one therapeutic work, focused entirely on your goals and well-being.
Many people notice real shifts after the first session. For deeper work — social anxiety, confidence, or long-standing habits — I typically recommend a short series of 3–6 sessions to build and reinforce lasting change.
Yes. Remote sessions via Zoom are just as effective as in-person work for most people. All you need is a quiet space where you can sit or lie comfortably for an hour.
