The evolution of the DIY Magic cover

I think this is fascinating from a design point of view. This is the evolution of the cover to the DIY Magic book, as created by Lord Whimsy.

They all have their merits (some friends were swearing I should go with the red) but I love where it ended up, with the final cover. What do you think?
